Questions
The short answers. For the details, see how it works.
Do I need an account?
No. Without one you get a random name like anon-1234. An account adds a username, direct messages, and room names, passwords and rules.
Can bchr.xyz read my messages?
No. Messages and files are encrypted in your browser with a key from the room link, which is never sent to the server.
How long do messages last?
In a room, until everyone leaves. Forums keep posts for the days you choose, up to 30. Direct messages last from an hour to 30 days, as the sender picks.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes, 510 MB per file.
Who can join my room?
Anyone with its link. With an account you can add a password, so the link alone isn’t enough.
Can I delete a room early?
Yes. Type /nuke to start a vote. If most people in the room agree, its messages and files are wiped.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, in any modern browser. Add it to your home screen to use it like an app, with notifications.
Can I use it on more than one device?
Yes. In Settings, link a device by scanning a QR code. Your rooms, settings and messages come with you.
How do I delete my account?
On your profile page, choose Delete account and enter your password. Your account, direct messages, keys and sign-ins are deleted right away.
Is it free?
Yes.
